District Attorney Sophia, dressed in casual clothes, was riding in a taxi with her younger sister, Lily, heading to a shopping mall in New York City. Suddenly, police stopped the taxi at a checkpoint in the middle of the road. Officer Mike asked the taxi driver for his papers and finding fault without any valid reason, started demanding a bribe.

During this entire conversation, DA Sophia, who was sitting in the backseat of the taxi, was watching and listening quietly when police officer Mike shouted at the taxi driver, saying, “Hey, you broke beggar.

 

You don’t have $200. Give me $200 however you can, otherwise I will impound your taxi.” The taxi driver said, “Sir, what have I done that you would impound my taxi? Have I committed a major crime?” Hearing this, the officer became furious and slapped the taxi driver hard, saying, “You’re arguing with me? You have such audacity?” Seeing this, DA Sophia became very angry.

 

 She got out of the taxi, went up to them, and told the police officer, “Who gave you the right to slap this driver? Is this civilized behavior? This man works backbreaking shifts every day to drive this car. This income is how he feeds his family. If he made a mistake, you ask for a bribe, slap him, and then threaten to impound his taxi.

” Hearing this, Robert got furious and said, “What did you say? I am doing injustice. you know more law than me. Don’t talk too much or I’ll throw you in a cell right now. Sophia realized that this officer was just as corrupt as Mike. She remained calm and asked, “Where is officer Mike from your station?” Robert said quietly, annoyed, “Why? What business is it of yours? Don’t ask me questions.

 Go talk to him yourself.” Sophia said again, “Officer, write the report or I will take action against you. You don’t know who I am. Hearing this, Robert laughed loudly and said, “You were threatening me. Looking at you, you seem like either a homeless, a garbage picker, or a housemaid. No report will be written here.

 Now get out or I will throw you out by the neck.” Sophia controlled herself. She understood that they were all birds of a feather, just like Officer Mike. She decided she had to show them a lesson. But first, their cup of sins needed to be full. She walked out of the station and thought for a moment. Then she took out her iPhone and called her subordinate internal affairs officers and the chief of police, informing them that she was at this station and that they should come quickly with her car.

 Da Sophia told the police chief in stern words, “Suspend him immediately and put handcuffs on him.” Hearing this, the chief signaled and two officers stepped forward and handcuffed Lieutenant Robert. The rest of the police staff present in the station stood with their heads bowed. Just as Robert was being taken away, officer Mike suddenly entered through the main pate.

 He looked nervous, but without understanding the situation inside, he rushed in. As soon as he saw DA Sophia standing in front, the ground slipped from beneath his feet. The scene flashed before his eyes of when he had slapped Sophia, thinking she was an ordinary girl while riding the ticket for the taxi driver on the street.

 That day, he thought it was a trivial incident. But today he understood why that girl was standing in front of him and why so many big officers were standing behind her. He started thinking the person I slapped must have complained to city hall. So the officers have come to investigate. Just then officer Mike mumbled in a trembling voice to the chief.

Do you not know who the person you are talking about is? Hearing this, Officer Mike looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

 Trembling in an extremely frightened voice, he said, “Chief, what are you saying? Actually, who is this madam?” Before the police chief could say anything, Da Sophia looked straight at him. In her eyes was the fire that was burning slowly since she was slapped on the street that day. DA Sophia said in a spirited and gray voice, “Remember that slap?  Mike’s face turned pale in an instant. His lips were trembling, but no sound was coming out of his throat. Just then, Sophia said in a grave voice, “Today, I haven’t come just as the DA, but I stand for all those people whom officers like you insult everywhere, whether it be on the street, in the station, or in the office. You thought because you wore a uniform you could think of yourself as God.

 But today you will know that the law is equal for everyone, even for the police. Saying this, Sophia slammed the table hard. Everyone jumped in fear. She shouted, “Officer, arrest Mike. Take his badge and prepare the suspension report immediately.” The police chief signaled without a moment’s delay. Two officers stepped forward and handcuffed Mike.

 The poor guy was trembling. He pleaded, “Madam, please forgive me. I made a mistake. I didn’t recognize you.” But Sophia cut him off mid-sentence and said, “The law doesn’t ask for anyone’s identity, officer. The law is equal for everyone. The public’s pain won’t decrease with your apology. Now the court will decide.

” The whole station was listening. For the first time, this thought was drilled into everyone’s head that in this county from now on, whoever oppresses the public, their place will be solely behind the bars of a jail. When Robert and Mike were brought out in handcuffs, an uproar began in the crowd standing outside.

 People were whispering to each other. It was unbelievable that two big officers of the department were trapped in the net of the law today.
